Palm Springs is known for its excellent restaurants and umbrella drinks around the pool. However, after an evening enjoying our restaurants and relaxing music venues, you may need an eyeopener cup of coffee or a light breakfast the following day. Here are a few locally-owned coffee shops you might want to consider.
1. Ernest Coffee: 1101 N Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, California 92262
This place has great coffee and a fun upbeat atmosphere. They have a nice outside patio that’s great for relaxing and sipping your drink. Food options include croissants, scones, muffins.
Review from Carlos L: “Am local ...this is hands down the best place for coffee in PS. Workers are friendly and the coffee is great. Plus it’s close but far away from downtown craziness highly recommend it!!!”
2. Cartel Coffee Lab: 1551 N Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, CA 92262
Born in the desert, Cartel Coffee Lab brings with them a decade of experience sourcing and roasting some of the world’s most exciting coffees. Rather than a blinding selection of sugar-laced syrups, Cartel’s philosophy is to allow great coffees to speak for themselves.
Review from Sara B: Wow, wow! I came here after an over-extracted cup at another coffee shop. I had the Familia Cuchimba (Colombian washed) pour-over, a deliciously sweet and balanced cup with no bitterness at all. It tasted like the sugar-coated tamarind candy I get in Colombia. I'm very happy with this coffee, and even my partner who doesn't like coffee enjoyed a sip! No cream or sugar is needed. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and chill, the merch is really cool, and they take covid precautions seriously. Definitely recommend it!
3. 4 Paws Coffee Co: 2500 N Palm Canyon Dr Suite A5, Palm Springs, CA 92262
4 Paws Coffee Co. offers Premium Coffee, without the "stuffiness" of most boutique coffee cafes. They proudly serve Organic, Fair Trade Certified, Dark Roast Espresso and proceeds from every cup goes to a pet in need.
Review from Lucy W: A coffee shop that has friendly employees, great-tasting coffee, an EXTENSIVE menu, and donates to dog rescues!? Umm, yes, please! I had tried the Palm Springs location first- during my vacation. I was SO happy to hear that a location had opened up nearby.
4. Cafe La Jefa: 750 N Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, CA 92262
A Latin-influenced modern coffee house, Cafe La Jefa features delicious, healthy, and sustainable specialty coffee and gourmet take-out food.
Review from Debra C: have been to La Jefa a few times now, and find it to be such a lovely spot. It is fun to hang out there and their products are such good quality and delicious. I had a Mexican mocha today and noticed that their syrups are all organic, which I really appreciate, and I know probably that those products are more expensive and yet the price was in line with other coffee places. The staff are lovely and I appreciate their efforts to make an inviting environment and to serve really good quality products.
5. Koffi: 515 N Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, CA 92262
Jumpstart the beginning to your Palm Springs getaway with a caffeinated breakfast at Koffi, a boutique coffee shop in downtown Palm Springs.
Review from Kate C: Love love love the coffee from Koffi! I even bought a bag to bring home last time we were there - it is so delicious. I am partial to drip coffee but everything I have had there from cold brew to lattes to drip has been wonderful! They have a good selection of baked goods also and there always seem to be one or two gluten-free options which is nice. Huge fan!
6. Gré Coffee House & Art Gallery: 278 N Palm Canyon Dr C, Palm Springs, CA 92262
Gré Coffeehouse & Art Gallery is a place for creatives to enjoy contemporary & photographic art, novels, poetry, art books, & board games while listening to classic vinyl records and enjoying a great cup of coffee or tea!
Review from Dara S: If I could give this place 10 stars I would!! The owners are awesome and friendly! I've tried the London fog, iced latte, frozen hot chocolate, and countless other coffee drinks here. No extra charge for alternative milks. This is so much more than a coffee shop, they sell records and the owner's photography too!! It's also a great place to listen to music and relax, they are always playing older decades like 60s!
